Heatwave Scorches Kerala

There is nothing that showcases the need for a quality air conditioning system like a heatwave. Consider a recent article for the Times of India titled “No respite from heatwave; temperatures reach 29-year high in Kerala.”
The author of the article writes, “The heatwave continued to sweep the central and southern states of the country, with Malampuzha in Kerala recording the state's highest temperature in 29 years at 41.8 degrees Celsius. Temperatures were above normal in Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Palakkad, Kannur, Ernakulam and Kottayam districts. Meanwhile, thundershowers in parts of Hyderabad and Medak gave some respite to residents braving the searing heat in Telangana. However, heatwave conditions prevailed over many parts of Karimnagar, Khammam and Nizamabad districts. The highest maximum temperature in the state was 45 degrees Celsius as recorded at Nizamabad and Ramagundam. The MeT department said that the heatwave conditions are ‘very likely’ to prevail over many parts of Telangana during the next two days. At least 49 people have died due to heatstroke as per the State Disaster Management department. Sonepur town in Odisha was the hottest place in the country, with the temperature soaring to 46.5 degrees Celsius. Bolangir and Titlagarh in Odisha recorded temperatures of 46 degrees Celsius and 45.5 degrees respectively. In the north, Punjab and Haryana recorded the season's maximum temperatures that hovered around the 40 degrees Celsius mark. The maximum in Chandigarh was 39.1 degree Celsius. Hisar was the hottest at 41 degrees Celsius in Haryana. In Punjab, Ludhiana and Patiala braved hot weather at 40.1 degrees Celsius. Heat wave conditions continued to sweep Jharkhand with mercury in Dhanbad and Deoghar districts, settling at the 43 degree Celsius mark. The steel hubs of Jamshedpur and Bokaro recorded a maximum of 42.9 and 41 degrees Celsius, respectively.”
