HVAC Forecast for 2015
Posted by AC World on February 26th, 2015
Now that 2014 is well behind us, what’s on the horizon for the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning industry for 2015? Kyle Gargaro, the editor-in-chief of The News, which covers air conditioning, heating and refrigeration topics, weighed in recently with his predictions. Here’s a roundup:
More Governmental Regulation: It’s an oft-repeated sentiment that the government will only increase its oversight over various industries, including HVAC. Gargaro goes on to say that this is even likelier this year because President Obama and the Congress are in a deadlock for power. And one of the only ways that the president can push through his agenda is by issuing regulations.
Beyond all of the rhetoric, though, Gargaro makes this point: “Here is a fact the industry should be repeating when talking about this subject: Today’s homes are 30 percent larger than they were 20 years ago, but energy consumption in them is flat. That is pretty impressive.” And that’s also a good reason why you should continue to trust the experts at AC World to guide you through the process of choosing the best HVAC system for your needs!
Smarter Homes, Smarter Contractors: As the smart home movement gains momentum, larger companies are entering the game. Customers are beginning to ask about efficiencies for existing or planned equipment, which means that they are taking a closer look at their contractors. This can only be a win-win-win for manufacturers, customers and suppliers – and we remain committed here at AC World to your total satisfaction with your equipment selections.
Time for Payback: Gargaro notes that the HVACR Workforce Development Foundation has made it a priority to attract and retain returning war veterans as part of the overall industry work force. “As a number of this country’s finest return home from tours overseas, they will need jobs,” Gargaro writes. “HVAC has a lot to offer, including good pay, stable work, and career advancement. It seems like a match made in heaven.”
Here’s to a pleasant, prosperous – and comfortable—2015!
